About the presentation:
Mobile and wireless health (mHealth) technologies promise to transform health and health care. Coupled with electronic health record (EHR), genomic, social, environmental, and other data, mHealth data has the potential to advance our understanding of disease, improve diagnosis and treatment, and lower healthcare costs in ways previously unimaginable. But mHealth technologies are not being widely used in clinical care or research. Dr. Sim will discuss both the promise and the challenges of mobile technologies for health.
About the presenter:
Dr. Ida Sim is Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco, Co-Director of Biomedical Informatics at UCSF’s Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, and Co-Founder of Open mHealth, a non-profit organization that is building open source solutions for mobile health app and data integration. She is also an investigatror with the Center of Excellence for Mobile Sensor Data-to-Knowledge (MD2K) and leads its Consortium Core.
